Hanna Cho elected as ASME Fellow

Hanna Cho was named a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Cho, an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, is one of over 4,100 Fellows out of ASME’s more than 120,000 worldwide members. The rank of ASME Fellow is a prestigious honor that recognizes outstanding achievements in mechanical engineering. The ASME Fellow membership grade is the highest elected grade in ASME.

Prof. Cho is recognized for her contributions to micro/nano-technologies, Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). Her unique approach of embracing nonlinearity has led to an innovative nonlinear MEMS resonator and an AFM probe enabling material characterization beyond topographic imaging. Cho’s fundamental and applied research has led to advances in biological, energy, and environment fields.

In 2018, Prof. Cho was awarded a DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Project Agency) Young Faculty Award and Director's Fellowship. She is also a recipient of the ASME C.D. Mote Jr. Early Career Award (2021) and OSU COE Lumley Research Award (2020).
